Strategies:

To encourage all leaders to be committed to this mission, in prayer and fellowship. John 13: 34,35  Eph 4: 2,3

To assist with resourcing, encouraging relational networking, and providing ideas and news to foster the big picture of the Illawarra church. Eph 4: 7,11-16

To work towards a combined churches strategy to reach the Illawarra with the Gospel. John 3:16 Matt 9:36-38

To pursue, review and refine these strategies. John 4: 35-38

Core Beliefs

We believe that the Bible is the Word of God.

We hold to the basic Christian doctrines as expressed in what we know as the Apostles Creed.

We believe in one God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe that God commands all people to love Him and to love each other.

We believe that God is good and that He is in love with the world. We believe He sent His Son to restore us to His original intent before the fall.

We believe that all have sinned, are eternally lost and are in need of salvation. This atoning salvation comes to all only through the finished work of Jesus Christ on the Cross.

We believe that by repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, the believer is saved and filled with the Holy Spirit for sanctified living and for empowered ministry.

We believe that Jesus Christ inaugurated the Kingdom of God on Earth, and He calls us to continue advancing His Kingdom until it is fully established when He returns.

We believe that Satan was defeated at the Cross, but continues to have limited authority as the Prince of this world. He is disempowered as the Kingdom of God advances. His final overthrow will be when Christ returns at the final judgement.

We believe that the Lord will  return, the dead will be raised, and that there will be a final judgement.

We believe that all those in Christ share in eternal life with Him.

Core Values

We honour the churches of the Illawarra as diverse expressions of the body of Christ. 1Corinthians 12:12-31

We honour the Spiritual giftings of all Christians and their operation in the churches and elsewhere.  Ephesians 4:7,11-16

We honour and pray for all leaders in the Illawarra, believing that prayer is foundational for God touching the region and nation and seeing His Kingdom advancing.  1Timothy 2:1-4,8.

We honour all Christian leaders of families, churches, ministries plus those Christian leaders who are in all areas of community life such as government, legal, media, education, youth, business, industry, health, welfare, sport and entertainment.  We know these leaders need encouragement, support and prayer to fulfill their high calling.  Hebrews 13:7,17-18

We recognise that we and our churches have various strongly-felt differences, so we see some key values to be:-

  • “In things essential unity, in things non-essential liberty, in all things charity” (Augustine).  Romans 14
  • Keeping in communication and preserving our fellowship. Ephesians 4:1-6
  • Acknowledging that each believer and church has strengths and weaknesses, that none of us “has all the answers”.  1Corinthians 12:4-11
  • Accepting that the Network is not a place for trying to impose our own agendas onto each other, but for serving each other in love.  Matthew 20:24-28
  • Valuing our rich diversity, being willing to learn from and contribute to each other.  Romans 12:3-10
