1. Local leaders fraternals and fellowships.
It's exciting that Christian leaders from various backgrounds are getting together for a host of reasons. It's a sure sign of church health.
As relationships develop, leaders pray together, show concern for each other and work together on wider community and regional projects.

Current Christian leaders fellowships:
Northern suburbs        Steve Dinning or Michael Bate
Corrimal                       Matthew Moore
Wollongong                 Dan Godden
Port Kembla                Lynne Drake
Dapto                           Darryl Stewart
Shellharbour                Lloyd Ollerenshaw
Albion Park                 Steve Roberts
Plus there are other informal groups and denominational fellowships.

Excerpts from 'Local Revivals In Australia' by Dr Stuart Piggin.
Follow link which includes the following statements.
(The link also includes excerpts from the study 'Early Evangelical Revivals In Australia' by Robert Evans)

3. Revival is usually preceded by unprecedented unity.

Unity among Christians must involve greater cooperation between Evangelicals and Charismatics. This will require godly leadership from those who have been given leadership roles in those branches of the Christian church.......

4. Revival comes when we move together....

An actual conversation with a local saint:
Q. Why do you like coming to this church?
A. Because the people are so humble.

2. The recent War Room movie has left us wondering what to do with i) an increased motivation to pray and ii) a cross generational model of discipling or mentoring.
Are our older people an underutilised resource? An article in the ABC reported that a recent study gave 3 simple keys to happiness: Relationships, Financial Control and Purpose. Prayer and mentoring are strong on purpose and relationships.

I'm sure we can give our older people better things to do!

3. Shellharbour CityServe. This initiative is still powering on. There were 4 projects scheduled for October. On the 10th, 120 volunteers from the Shellharbour churches gathered to work on the Oak Flats Swimming Pool. Read Pastor Shane Cook's report.

Feedback from Shellharbour Council:

"Another extremely successful CityServe Project last weekend! Congrats & a Big thank-you to CityServe! What a great sense of community spirit and blessed projects.

The atmosphere of 'good will' has certainly preserved the CityServe Project work from vandals.

I have forwarded onto Mayor and Deputy Mayor as per your request"

HEAVEN'S DOORS

Heaven's doors open wide
I see as Your glory
Spills from inside
Just as at the cross
Arms still open wide
Your love and forgiveness
Bid me 'come aside'.
