Blue Flower

Beginning a change process with crazy ideas:

Crazy Idea 1: Visit one church in your area once, ie A SINGLE OCCASION

Crazy Idea 2: Ask the congregation the questions you've never before dared to ask.

Sometimes to begin a change process, we have to do something a bit crazy, just to make things uncomfortable and set the scene.

No Risk, No Reward
(Play it safe and we'll all go to sleep)

Crazy Idea 1: Shut down your church and visit other churches.

Why?
To put rubber on the road of loving others within the body of Christ.
To step out from our normal comfort zones.
To encourage new or smaller churches to keep on going or increase their vision.
To give our people a wider vision of what God is doing in the community.
To demonstrate to the wider world that Churches do indeed talk to each other.

Issues for the Leaders
Will they come back? Jesus words apply "Give and it will be given to you"
Can I trust my people? Sheep are led, cattle are driven, you are a shepherd
I am responsible: Grasp with your treasure tightly and it will run through your fingers, open your hand and God will fill it.
They have a different doctrinal statement of faith: Is your statement of faith designed to summarise good news for the hungry, or is it a screening process to draw the line for belonging. Your baseline will stand if it's true.

Crazy Idea 2: Ask everyone in the church to anonymously answer the following open questions:
(This is not for the faint hearted)

How many friends have you invited to church (in any time period)
Why did you invite them?
Are there people who'd you'd like to invite to church?
What's holding you back?
What would you change in church to be more comfortable in inviting friends along?

No Risk, No Reward
(Play it safe and we'll all go to sleep)

"We will have fellowship with anyone who agrees with us"

Northern Beaches Churches Door to Door Easter Visitation.

This visitation programme has now expanded to Woonona Presbyterian, Woonona Baptist, Bulli Anglican and Austinmer Anglican churches.
Yes, it's a bit scary, but when done in the very professional manner with ordinary people, it's very effective. There is a change in mindset from 'getting people in' to 'going out'. And it can actually be a lot of fun mixed with divine encounters.

National Gathering Sydney 2-3 May 2017
A National Conference to Explore City Gospel Movements.

In May, people from around the nation and from overseas will be gathering in Sydney for the inaugural National Gathering. The event is open to leaders and interested Christians from church and market place.
The purpose of the NG is to encourage and to inspire delegates with stories of how the gospel can, and is impacting cities and towns around the world, including our own nation. Tim Keller from Redeemer Church in New York described this city gospel movement:
The movement has seen incredible results in New York where there's been a 300% growth in Christianity in recent years. At no point in history has there been such potential for a new growth of Christianity.

"The speed (and growth) of the gospel in a city is in proportion to the depth of unity in that city in the body of Christ".
